Canada's Immigration legislation allows consideration of humanitarian and compassionate considerations for immigration to Canada. Although not for everyone compassionate applications are an avenue for some individuals, particularly family members such as a recently widowed parent.
Be careful -- some inexperienced advisors will advise you to go ahead when there is no realistic possibility of success. You need an experienced consultant to guide you.
